The footballer Andrés Iniesta organizes his first international campus in Catalonia in Llívia

The Iniesta Academy International Summer Campus will be in Cerdanya, from July 2 to 15, with more than 100 national and international players.

The international footballer, former player of FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team – and currently in the ranks of Vissel Kobe – Andrés Iniesta, will organize his first international camp in Catalonia in Llívia (Cerdanya). The concentration of national and international athletes – the Iniesta Academy International Summer Camp – will take place from July 2 to 15, 2023, with more than 100 footballers expected to enroll, aged between 8 and 16. The sporting event is carried out through the Iniesta Academy, “Andrés Iniesta’s personal project that arises from his own motivation to get closer to the training of children and to give back to the football community what football has given him,” explained the Global Head of Iniesta Academy, Bekiu Kim.

Iniesta Academy applies a training methodology based on Andrés Iniesta’s way of seeing and understanding football, which aims to develop children on a technical-tactical level so that they understand, above all, the importance of making intelligent decisions on the field. Camaraderie, passion, fun and effort are some of the values that the group present at the campus works on. From a technical point of view, the participants in the stay work on aspects such as ball control, association, space-time control and verticality.

Iniesta Academy has announced that in this first edition, in Llívia, a summer tournament will be organised, “the Iniesta Cup, where children will be able to experience the competition in tournament format and also apply the knowledge learned in training sessions”. According to the organisers, boys and girls from the different Iniesta Academy academies such as Japan, Singapore, USA, Panama, Mexico, Venezuela, Spain and many more will participate.

During the camp, the players will stay in hotels in Llívia and will take advantage of the high-level sports facilities, such as the football pitch, the Sant Guillem park and the local sports hall. These facilities usually host other types of sports competitions and training camps throughout the year. It should be noted that Llívia City Council will collaborate with the organisers for the development of the event.

This morning, the Iniesta Academy managers presented the project at the Llívia Town Hall. The event was attended by members of the governing team and a delegation from the sports academy, headed by the sports director, Quim Ramon. Also in attendance were members of Stage Deportivo, a team collaborating in the organisation of the event, as well as Pol Rodríguez, COO of NSN (Never Say Never) and Bekiu Kim, Global Head of Iniesta Academy. Finally, there was also representation from the establishments that will host the athletes during their stay in Llívia: Albergue Anna Maria Janer (Pere Tarrés Foundation) and Hostal Rusó.
